CHARGING A CHROMEBOOK
We have officially wrapped up our first week of school, and every student should now have their issued Chromebook!
As we settle into the routine, we want to share a few helpful tips regarding how to charge your Chromebook. Charging issues are among the most common technical hiccups students face early on, so please refer to the simple troubleshooting steps below if you experience any trouble:
Chromebook Charging and Battery Care
Have you ever picked up a Chromebook that has been sitting unused for a while and noticed that it will not turn on right away or that the battery seems to drain quickly? This can sometimes happen after a device has been stored with a low battery for an extended period.
Why Battery Performance May Be Affected After Storage
- Deep Sleep Mode: Lithium-ion batteries can enter a protective low-power state when they have been depleted for a long period of time.
- Battery Calibration: The Chromebook may need time to accurately determine the battery's current charge level again.
- Temporary Battery Drain: During the first few charging cycles, the battery may appear to drain faster than normal while the battery management system stabilizes.
Steps to Help Restore the Battery
- Plug it in: Connect the Chromebook to its charger and leave it plugged in for at least 30 minutes, even if the screen remains black at first.
- Charge to 100%: Allow the Chromebook to reach a full charge without interruption.
- Use it normally: Disconnect the charger and use the Chromebook on battery power.
- Repeat if needed: If the battery continues to drain unusually quickly, repeat the normal charging and discharging cycle two or three times.
